Lewis Hamilton just won the Monaco F1 race yesterday. Have you ever wondered what kind of race Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, or Felipe Massa had before they are 1 year old? Of course they are not racing each other in their high-tech Formula One car. Well, then what kind of vehicle did they use to race? I guess they must be racing in something like what the babies are racing in today’s event, the BABY WALKER.

The race title is Baby-in-walker Driving Contest 2008. This event is jointly organised by Mummycare and the Crown Square management as one the many activities during Mummycare’s 12th Anniversary celebration. Sponsors are MY DEAR and Mamypoko. I’ll just let the photos do the talking. Please click here for Mummycare’s link on the pre-event press release.

The view of the stage

Closeup of the medals

The champion will win this trophy

Kids are attracted to bright colours.

The walkers parked neatly at the starting line.

The race is very simple, 3 people are involved. First you’ll need the driver (baby), then navigator and a race engineer. The navigator (one of the parents) will have to be in front of the baby, to guide the baby all the way to the finishing line. Rules is he/she can’t touch the baby-walker in any way. The race engineer will hold the baby so he/she won’t take off before the race starts.

The time marshal.

The are 36 parcipants in 6 groups. There are 6 races and the fastest baby in all the 6 races will become the champion.

Drivers getting ready for the race.

Getting ready

Ready….. get set……..

GO GO GO!!!!!!

Some kids are lured by handphones

Some by a toy ball

Another handphone fan. I think the best part in “luring” props are 100 Plus and an umbrella.

Don’t be fooled by this sandwich daddy. His kid won the championship.

Almost there

This mommy (right) and the lady next to her is so cute.

Crossing the finish line.

Taste of victory.

While some are busy racing, some babies prefer to chat it out at the starting point. They never finish the race and their parents have to carry them away.

The funny part is, there is always a girl and a boy.

5th runner up (I will post the name later)

4th runner up

3rd runner up

2nd runner up

1st runner up

Behold! The champion. He might be a Formula One driver when he grows up one day.

The owners of Mummycare.

17th May 2008

During my last post about the maternity corner about Poppies, I have some photograph of the maternity wear at a corner in the shop. Well, I thought that the dresses on display are a lot already, but little did I know that Poppies actually have a super wide range of classy and savvy maternity wear waiting to be unleashed tonight.

Besides showcasing their latest maternity wear, the catwalk also showcase some baby stroller and baby carrier.

Casual look? (above)

Who say pregnant mom can’t look sexy? (above)

This stroller can be converted into a car seat. (above)

For the dress lover. (above)

For those who prefer to wear pants instead of dress.

This is my type of colour =p

Another elegant series

What do you think? Gone are the days where pregnant mom wear the conventional maternity wear. The dressed are strectable and comfortable to wear.

May is a busy month for me, besides my wedding shoots, there are also heaps of other event happening in Kuching. One of them is the public preview of Miss Sarawak Model International & Hair Show by McPhee Studio at Boulevard Mall Kuching.

The highlight of this catwalk is the hair show presented by McPhee Studio, and 20 beauty pageants will be showcasing the work by his studio.

Lineup of the models

I still have phobia shooting in colourful lightings. I tried to use bounce flash, but I still can’t get rid of the reddish hue… maybe some of you out there can give me some tips?

I like this hairstyle, though I am sure it is hard to maintain it that way.

Another cool hairdo.

After the catwalk, it is McPhee Studio’s showtime.

James Bond pose?

Cool hairdo and colours.

One hair stylist in action.

This is the artwork done by McPhee himself.

There is another show on the 17th May at the same time (8PM) by the same models but showcasing spectacles instead. Unfortunately I have another assignment at The Spring Mall covering the Poppies Maternity Fashion show. Stay tuned for the next post about Poppies.

On the 25th May, there is another big event at the Boulevard Mall, basically, there’s going to be a classic car show and the Victoria Arms Big Bikers will be present during the event as well as the Miss Sarawak Model International. The main attraction will be a Mini Bike Race. Please contact 082-461388 for more information about the event.

Back in March 2008, I was covering a photoshoot for Happenings in Sarawak magazine for the Miss Fair and Lovely 2008 World Harvest Festival.

Below is photo taken by Shen.

Quote: – “Happenings in Sarawak” is the pioneer source of tourist information. Its purpose and aim is to increase local readers and international traveler’s understanding of Sarawak in term of its people, history, culture and events happening then. Each issue features articles about interesting places through editorials and advertisements. (extracted from Happenings website)

This is the first time that my photos are published in a well-known local magazine. It is really an honour for the opportunity to work together with this magazine. Special thanks to Ms. Angelina Liew for accepting my offer. From a simple commercial advertisement shoot for Miss Hazel (winner of Miss Fair and Lovely 2007)  from the Absolutely Dress Gallery, it expands to covering the semi-final for Miss Fair and Lovely WHF 2008.

You can get Issue 7 of Happenings in Sarawak magazine here.

I went together with my friend, Shen for this photoshoot. It is a great pleasure to be able to share knowledge and opportunity with him.
