Kate and Yaw Liang

March 28, 2009

A videographer friend of mine called me up a few weeks ago asking for my blog address. He said his potential client wanted to view my blog. Few days later, Yaw Liang called me up asking if I could be their wedding photographer or not. I said YES after checking out that I was free on that day. How could I resist a wedding shoot!

After meeting Yaw Liang and Kate for the first time, I found out that Kate is from Kursk, Russia and Yaw Liang is a pure Kuchingite. This lovely couple met each other while Yaw Liang was studying in Russia. I am touched by their love for each other. This sacred wedding united two people from different country. Love knows no boundries.

Kate’s best friend was also here to be her brides maid. She also managed to catch the bouquet during the tossing at church!

Please view some of my favourite shots here. More photos at this link.

Ping Ping and Chit Chung

March 24, 2009

March has been a busy month for me. Heaps of shooting, emails to reply, new friends to meet. It’s really a busy month for me and ultimately… I am enjoying all this. I thank God for His abundant blessings, and personally, I am thankful to be able to do what I love to do today.

Ping Ping wrote me an email if I could cover her wedding ceremony in Kuching few weeks ago. She told me that it’s just a simple ceremony… with make-up session at 360 Hotel and the ceremony itself at 22nd Mile. What seemed like a simple ceremony turned out to be a fun filled and surprisingly interesting ceremony after all.

I remember while one of the relative went to pass the flower to the groom… he came back saying “they are all big size”. It really turned out that the groom’s entourage consist of big sized guys.

The groom made the grand entrance into the hotel room by carrying a screaming cicada in his hand. It looked like a fake, until it really flew around the ceiling.

Here are some of my favorite photos.

Quote from Habitat for Humanity Kuching’s website. “HABITAT FOR HUMANITY is a  nonprofit organisation to tackle poverty housing around the world. We aim to make adequate housing a matter of CONSCIENCE and ACTION. Habitat welcomes partners from any faith – or no faith – to pick up a hammer and hoist a bag of cement to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.”

On the 7th March 2009, Habitat for Humanity (HfH) Kuching organised a Concert Dinner with the aim to raise fund through an exciting auction event at the dinner. The dinner was generously hosted by Global Upline Sdn. Bhd. with entertainment provided by SingleTrackMind and LayNa Ballet Academy. I was invited to sponsor my photography services which I am proud to be HfH’s official photographer for the night.

Besides offering my photography services, I also offered to auction off a series of 8 photos from myself, Alvin Jong and Methos Phang with the theme/concept of nature and wildlife. Each photo will be sold at RM100 each of which 100% of the sales will go to HfH fund.

Below are some of the photos from the event.

Foong Ling and Chen Siong

March 10, 2009

Actual day wedding photography is full of challenges and excitement, there are moments to be captured everywhere. Just to cover a key area, prompt decisions need to be made for what to shoot and where to stand. You just can’t miss the important shots. For example, during a tea ceremony, the newlyweds are anxious to serve tea to their parents/relatives… the photos of the couple serving tea to the parents is a MUST. At the same time, one must plan how to capture  – the candid moments happening around the ceremony – all this happens in split second. A simple tea ceremony, can be the test of reflex and aiming skill. Of course, that’s when I appreciate lens that is fast and focuses snap on onto the subject. I always create different angles and views – covering as much angle as possible. Ok, enough of some technical talk. Below is a photo gallery of Chen Siong and Foong Ling.

Working in Singapore, Chen Siong – from Malacca and Foong Ling – from Kuching emailed me if I am up for the challenge to be their photographer for a simple tea ceremony and wedding reception. It was an honour to be able to capture their important day, even if it is a simple one. Here are some shots from the ceremony.

Carolyn & Tommy

March 4, 2009

Tommy and Carolyn work overseas and both of them are my ex-schoolmate.  I was excited and honoured to have me and my team entrusted to be their wedding photographer for their BIG DAY! Due to another wedding which I was shooting in the morning, my friend Jerrick and Cecilia was covering this lovely couple’s morning session. I joined in during the wedding reception at Grand Margherita Hotel (previously Holiday Inn), Kuching. It was a lavish wedding, and both the couple are very kind and so sporting.

This is my very first posting after changing the layout of my blog. It took me a few days just to figure out how to get this new theme to run properly on my blog. I was from IT background before, but that was during MS DOS 5 and Windows 3.11. Coding the web is far different from DOS programming. But alas! I did it. All the hard work paid off.
